DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. Indiana Government Center North 2501 S. Berkley Rd. Kokomo, IN 46902 Dear Keeper of the Dream, On behalf of Sandra D. Leek, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and Judge Tonya Walton-Pratt, Chairperson of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, it gives me great pleasure to commend and thank you and your staff for joining with us in our endeavor to make each Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday A Day On ... Not a Day Off! We began the King Holiday with a program in the State House Rotunda on January 18, 2002 during our eleventh annual state employees celebration. Our program, which was the kick-off for the January 21, 2002 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Day On ... Not a Day Off' celebration, was attended by Governor Frank O'Bannon, a host of distinguished guests, and media crews from local television stations. The program lasted in excess of one hour and the students in attendance were especially attentive, and very well behaved. Their conduct drew many favorable comments from our guests. Next year we expect to sponsor a similar program. We would appreciate your consideration of joining with us again to make the King Holiday "A Day On ... Not A Day Off' by participating in Day of Service activities in 2003. You may visit our web page at www.in.gov/icrc/mlkjr/mlkjr.html for detailed information on the King Day of Service. Shortly, highlights of the 2002 day of service activities will be posted on the web page. Again, thank you very much for your participation and
I look forward
to working with you again next year.
